aliquippawill, sorry to disagree with you, but I don't think Karens voice is like fine wine. Her voice, upon reaching the listeners eardrums, is transmitted to the brain like a fine vintage Brandy sliding down ones throat whilst sitting in golden boat, on a lake of angels tears being gently blown along by butterflies. Simply, the most unpretentious, non-diva like female voice of all time.
A haunting, rather overlooked (and underappreciated) slice of musical "magic" from the magnificent talent of the late Karen Carpenter. Over 26 years since her passing, and I STILL haven't heard a voice that quite reminds me of Karens. I say that with no disrespect to all the great female vocalists of this generation. It's simply that Karens' voice reminds me of a bottle of exquisitely fine wine; a treasure to be truly savored as it's value increases with time. I'll cherish her memory forever.
Certainly a weak version. Karen pulls it off...that's what saves it. Richard's arraingement really doesn't lift it to the heights of Harry Georgeson's (or was that George Harrison). I don't think anyone else could have pulled this song off but KC
