This is what it looks like when civic engagements starts with the People, rather than oil barons and partisan think tanks in Washington. We may not have our own "news" channel or a fleet of corporately purchased buses, but doesn't the fact that the People can ALSO have impact give you hope? There are so many more of us than there are members of the ruling elite.

If you do not consent to being governed by "corporate persons" and billionaires...
If you want to be heard by your government...
If you're ready to stand together and say: Enough is enough! Democracy in America will not die on my watch!
We are calling for a peaceful and decisive demonstration to save democracy in America. We hope to see a million Americans turn up for a march in Washington in October with satellite rallies in every town and city. Please sign up below to be the first to know the exact date and location.
As everyday Americans, we just don't feel heard by our government. Representation has broken down because our democracy is drowning in money.
We have reached the point where We the People no longer have any confidence in Washington or Wall St. We can't go on like this. Check out Dylan Ratigan's Rant to hear more.
We are resolved that a government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.
Our action has to have three components.
It must be peaceful;
It must go beyond partisan politics and factionalism. It has to be the American people waking up and standing together. No matter how we identify our political orientation, all of us want to live in a democratic society. We must unite as the American people to save our democracy at this point in our history. There is no progress for any group seeking change democratically if our democratic process is just failing;
Going forward, we must take our resolve to save our democracy and organize at the district-level to have sustained impact. Democracy is not a one-time event; it is a lifetime commitment. We are calling on you to commit to this!

August Town Hall Action
Imagine bringing money to Town Halls with your Congress members! Would you be heard then?
Let's find out. During the month of August, we encourage you to speak up at congressional town halls near you. Take your sign. Take extra signs and ask others to join you in making a statement. We created this toolkit for you to use to plan and publicize your action. Check the toolkit for what to do if going to a town hall is not an option for whatever reason.
Thanks for your support and participation in the Washington, Do I Matter Now? Campaign. Many of you have already shared with us some truly inspiring photos and videos. Check out the growing collection on Flickr. Please keep them coming!
Super Citizen Challenge Coming Your Way
As you have heard, our dysfunctional Congress has created a "Super Congress" to negotiate over the budget. While no one can predict the outcome of this new committee, we do know that the creation of this committee signals even greater concentration of power and even less representation of the people in the process.
We believe that Congress should find ways to hear directly from the people instead of huddling as an elite group of twelve to decide the fiscal future for all of us.
Instead of just getting mad, we believe that this is the time for us to become Super Citizens. To find out more about this, stay tuned...
