De-Railed: The National Dream, is a documentary examining the crumbling state of the Canadian Railway system. Having lost more than 10,000 kilometers of track since 1990, why has Canada allowed it's "ribbon-of-rail" to become so tattered?

Directed by Dan Nystedt

  • I'm in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

There is still freight train service going through here, but it has been quite a number of years since we've had passenger train service!

To me, it's so sad that something, which brought our country together in the past, is being abandoned so easily in these days!!!

  • @Mikeindeepr I'm in Montreal and I'm worried about that line. If it's lost any thing east or west in Canada pretty much has to go through Toronto for nothing! =(

  • Let me share some information I have about the complete film:

Premier screening of Dan Nystedt’s documentary film De-Railed: The National Dream will be on Sunday, March 4 at 5 pm in the Grand Theatre, Sault Ste. Marie as part of the Shadows of the Mind Film Festival. Limited seating so get your tickets soon!

  • Excellent trailer. When will the full version be available? We are trying to save the CP Pembroke-Mattawa line, currently under imminent risk of removal. Everything in the video rings true and relevant to our situation. "There is no national transportation strategy." It's pathetic for a so-called developed country to be in such a state.

  • Excellent trailer that takes us on a trip - expect the full video to show us how prevarication and deception has undermined an important historical scaffolding for the building of our country. Keep on rolling!!

  • Great trailer! Can't wait to see the full documentary!

  • look at how many cities and towns have no rails anymore it is very sad and i live in an area where you have to drive for an hour to get to a branchline in one direction and an hour to the mainline in another direction.

  • CN Rail is privately owned, by an American company no less. They are cost cutting.

  • When is the video due out and where can I get a copy
