The Film Versus Film crew tackles the question, "What films should every teenager see?" Dave suggests works from Sadie Benning and Su Friedrich. Matt suggests, Rushmore and Deep End with Jane Asher. Chris and Dustin both agree John Hughes films such as The Breakfast Club are a must-see.

  • @vjmsecond Two very good choices. Maya Deren has definitely influenced my editing style--especially her use of slow motion. It's amazing how slowing down the image can effect the mood so drastically. And as for Un Chien Andalou, I love Dali and the whole surrealist movement. If you're a Pixies fan, Un Chien Andalou inspired the lyrics for their song, "Debaser," so even back in the 80s/90s Dali's films had a great impact on young people.

  • As far as the experimental stuff that's short and still makes sense, I'd suggest Bunuel's UN CHIEN ANDALOU and Maya Deren's MESHES OF THE AFTERNOON.
