Welding Stainless Steel is pretty easy compared to welding free machining 303 stainless steel. Sulphur is the culprit. Tig welding Techniques for 303 free machining stainless steel involve a tight arc and extra filler metal.

  • ughh i hate long end caps :P

  • @ZS6JMP 303 and 316 have the same tensile strength, but 316 has a much higher yield strength and slightly a harder material.

  • what is your amps settings? i am really want to know... thx.

  • Whats the sketch for using 316 stainless. Is it stronger than the 303 grade. Im asking because I intend to make a flasback arresting bubbler for oxy hydrogen gas system, so it needs to be strong??

  • Thanks I appreciated the part where you said not to wash up with a long arc without the filler rod or you'll undercut. I was having some trouble with undercutting. Trying again and watching for that has been a huge improvement.

    Thank you.

It would be great if you did a video of with a lot of common mistakes and how to avoid them.

Thanks again for sharing the knowledge.

  • thanks for the videos again!

You should check out his website, its got TONS of information for noobies like myself, EVERYONE should check out his website, its freaking awesome.

  • Your videos are excellent, thanks for posting them. I realise most of your videos are aimed for professionals in this field. I never done TIG welding before, and I'm interested in taking it up as a hobby. One hurdle is choosing the right equipment for the novice, and the other hurdle is getting some exposure in welding basics. Posting a series of videos for entry level audience would be quite valuable, ranging from equipment selection, methods, and pointers to other educational resources.
