HP MAYOR, BECKY SMOTHERS, becky.smothers@highpointnc.gov
Ask for a "No Spray Zone"

Duke Energy sprayed the Piedmont Environmental Center, High Point, NC with hazardous herbicides without public warning or notifications. Not required in North Carolina. The public should have a right to know when exposed to hazardous herbicides. Ask the Mayor of High Point for a "No Spray Zone" by Duke Energy. Duke Energy will honor this request if the proper paper work is filled out. The City of High Point has refused to ask for a "No Spray Zone"! This puts the public at risk and our drinking water source High Point City Lake at risk.

  • It should be a basic human right to know when being subjected to hazardous pesticides, herbicides, and chemicals.

  • All people of North Carolina should have the basic human right of knowing when they are exposed to hazardous herbicides and chemicals in a public park by a utility company such a Duke Energy. There need to be laws and ordinances to protect the public and its drinking water sources.
