Now you have a new age of listeners, with short attention spans, and no taste or interest. They like catchy superficial hooks about fancy brands or thugd out last words of violent tendencies. The beat has to be danceable or hardhitting and the person rapping in the background is of little importance as long as they sound good with beat and hook, they could be spittin about making tea, its of little consequence or notice. Does that sound like the majority of mainstream and underground?YUP! bOO!

Today you have free mixtape sites, free youtube with every artist possible, free mp3`s unlimited amounts of music with no substance or importance. The message, the beats, the storytelling stylistic, GONE!!!.One reason is that nothing shocks anybody anymore, for instance songs of murder, rape ,crime capers gone wrong, problems with police, robbing gunplay , jail bids etc etc maybe were interesting and cutting edge in 80`s and 90`s but commonplace and boring to us now in contemporary america.

I think time has been the killing field for hip hop. The invention of itunes, ipod mp3 american idol bullshit shows etc.. has made all music irrelevant, in other words free music in oversaturated market and every tom and sally with a computer or music recordable device a potential star. When we were kids saving money for a mixtape or cd of one mc, going home absorbing and listening repetitively, playin for your boys, made the artists important to you, and a classic cd now. That day is done.
