The legendary singing bandleader, Vaughn Monroe, is featured singing one of his biggest hits, Ballerina, in a 1965 concert. For many years Vaughn was 'the voice of RCA' recording for that label and acting as spokesperson for the company's many products. By the time this video was done, Vaughn had moved on to recording for Dot Records in full fidelity and stereophonic sound.

@VAUGHNMONROEVIDEO ... Would you happen to have "Prisoner of Love" by Vaugh Monroe? It was my dad's favorite song to sing when he was drinking with his Irish buddies. Thanks for the fine music videos.

48? Nah, I'm younger than that, but with a wide ranging, eclectic music taste I love this stuff! Everything from the Edison wax-cylinders to Heavy Metal! (just the rap an hip-hop I can''t stand)

At 48, I MAY be the youngest fan. My dad was a well known band leader outside Boston for over 50 years. Dad loved Vaughn as well. I make my living as a full time singer/entertainer outside the Boston area where Vaughn Monroe resided. We drove by his old home this evening on Pickwick Avenue in West Newton, Mass. Beautiful as always, especially during the Christmas season. I am on Youtube - From Sinatra, Doo Wop & more...Happy Holidays - Thank you, Bob Gauvreau

@VAUGHNMONROEVIDEO You are quite right in saying that the word should have been "Fame", - as he sang it in the 1947 version. Quite right too --- about being " Picky " but, You are forgiven because you patently enjoy Vaughn's music. As do we all. Deo gratia for the today's' technology which enables us to hear our favourite artists and for programs such as Youtube, where they are all to be found.

i wonder what our grandchildren will do in the future when all these kind of voices like Vaughn Monroe's won't be listened anymore by them, because we are not going to be here anymore, i'm sorry for them because of the new kind of music they listen now has not the same quality.

Love the slight flub if that's what it is. Only makes the moment more precious. There's a vid of Bob Dylan missing the lines of no less a song than "Mr. Tambourine Man". It's on youtube. Priceless! I could sing that song in my sleep!

It might be that he did mistake a word, but like a true professional, he just keeps on singing!

This is a GREAT video. But does Vaughn make a mistake? At time 1:01 where he sings, "You wanted love instead..." shouldn't it have been, "You wanted fame instead..?" The story is about a ballerina who chose career over relationship. Picky I know, but thought I'd mention it. Thanks for sharing.

Vaughn was well known for changing lyrics to songs during live performances!
