  • I could be wrong but are'nt you shooting production open class? Limited would keep you to ten rounds in your mags.

  • @DobermansRock There is limited (what I'm shooting) and limited 10 (what you're thinking of).

  • That cant be a stock USP, my guess is jet funnel with 16 round mags and how are you keeping it so flat, you do any work to those springs.

I shoot a USP 40 with Jet Funnel and a few other tricks. I find the recoil system really causes the pistol to float returning to point of aim. Love my USP thought.

    Oh... that was GREAT shooting!!!

  • @cjennings6781 Thanks, and yes it has a jet funnel and 16 round mags, both are HK stock parts. No internal work what-so-ever. The recoil is horrible, just lots of practice to get fast on follow up shots,

  • @Lancear15 How is the recoil horrible? all of my hks are smooth and fast back on target.

  • @navyman8903 two words - bore axis, it is horrible on the USP. It only makes a small fraction of a second difference getting back on target but when you are shooting 30+ rounds that adds up to be a second or seconds wasted. Video yourself from the side shooting a USP and a Glock. Slow motion playback will show muzzle rise on the USP is a LOT higher.

  • @Lancear15 I have had several times if I concentrate where the usp just cycles in my hands. If I have the correct grip. Bore axis is all subjective to the shooter. Bore axis only has to do with muzzle flip, not recoil. And I have not lost any time in finding my target again after shooting, and I have video of myself shooting a Glock 19, USP 45, and HK45, all shoot the same to me. I actually shoot the high bore axis guns tighter, But again, every shooter is different.

  • Would the USP be good for LEO Target Shooting competition or should I go with the HK P30 in .40?

  • Talking about the recoil... I shoot a P30 as well, the recoil is so different, much 'faster'. Its not as soft as the USP which i think actually has a soft recoil but is streched out over time if that makes any sence. Looking at the internals, that dual recoil springof the usp I think is the downfall for a competitive shooting pistol. I am looking at modifying to a single spring system soon.
