@binhkone Coloratura refers to agility of technique in a special way. There are coloratura mezzos for instance. But, Natalie COULD have said she was no longer coloratura, and what she said goes with me.

Sutherland voice is richer than Dessay, but her high notes are often squeaky and incomplete. Dessay reach them easier.

well you can not compare it's like comparing : two musiciens on playing piano and the other one violin so they just have distinct instruments ;)

I ADORE Dessay's performance here! She is a real Juliette! She is unsurpassable in lyric coloratura roles like Amina, Juliette, maybe even Violetta (I don't know). However, I only said that, for example, Callas and Gheorghiu are more beauiful than her, and wonderful artists in their own fach (whish is certainly more 'heavy' than Dessay's) as well. They are both superb Violettas, Toscas etc.

God whoever gets feelings from beauty understands that Dessay is nothing but a weak very weak voice with some agility: opera divas are to be find otherwhere. P.S. Yes, Anna Netrebko is another planet. As Callas. Gheorghiu is an average - good singer introduced in the right circuit.

you are right! Recently, I saw her on a french national channel. She confirmed that she was no longer coloratura. Whoever will she be, i would always love her, not only for her voice but also her humour.
