IF your baby is doing something similar to this, calmly turn off your computer pack a day bag and go to the nearest children's hospital's emergency room, even if it is hours away, and tell them your chld is having some sort of seizure and have your child admitted thru the emergency room. Do not go to your local hospital or pediatrician or try to set an appointment with a neurologist as this will delay treatment. You need a child neurologist and this is the best, quickest way to get proper diagnosis and immediate treatment. It is potentially very serious and early intervention is critical. Emma had infantile spasms which is a form of epilepsy and fortunately has recovered completely. good luck and please let me know the outcome!

  • Xroadie, good luck with your journey. I actually took this video down for a while not wanting to constantly remind myself of a painful time, but then I was reminded how important a similar video was for me and my little girl, who is now almost 5 and doing wonderful, totally resolved from iS. We were lucky and hope you share our fortunate resullts. Glad you found the video useful. Send me a PM if my family can be if assistance. GOOD LUCK!

  • Only Jennyboo stay as calm as you can and join groups on the internet like Infantilespasms (dot) com. Seek out treatment with highly qualified and experienced neurological specialists that have experience with this condition. Hope. Love, and be proactive with the scary treatments that are prescribed for this condition. Inaction is your worst enemy when you have a child diagnosed with IS.

    Good Luck.

  • @blopez, It is my understanding that IS usually resolves before the age you say your child is, but often other epilepsy es develop. These are questions for a neurologist that specializes in childhood epilepsy. Good luck .

  • Thanks for the recent comments. This video Is 4 years old and Emma is fortunately totally resolved from IS after treatment with achtar gel. She has no residual symptoms at all.

  • Thank you for this post! We were dealing with these spasms for about a week we thought they were reflux. Pediatrician thought it was sandifers syndrome. Med did not work & they started getting worse. I found your video and immediatly grab diaper bag and baby and went to Childrens Hosp of Phila. My 6 month old baby girl was diagnosed with Lissencephaly, a rare brain deformity. ANYONE seeing this-- do not wait for a neuro appt -- go to emergency room --best to go to a childrens hosp. Get MRI

  • @behappy432 Thank you for the response, and my family wishes the very best outcome for your baby. I know this is a difficult time for you. We are so pleased you are in the hands of the good people of Philadelphia children's hospital.

  • This post directed me to the hospital two nights ago,. After noticing odd "hiccups," and thinking my 6 month-old was being funny for a couple of days, I started to research and found this. Its too early to say how this will go, but the doctors all agree that the speedy action could contribute to a positive outcome. God bless you for posting.

  • Hello thank you for sharing this video of your baby Emma, my name is Jenny my son Matthew (7 months old ) was recently diagnosed w IS any advice or feedback you can give would greatly be appreciated please contact me jmucino@msn.com

  • My child has been having these kind of fits since she was a baby but in her case always during the night when she is sleeping.

She is already 7 years old and has been treated since she was 7 month old but so far we never met the right medication, depakine, keppra, tegretol..........I see the most of the cases are little babies, do you know any child who is already the age of my child who still have them? our child is fine apart from that, maybe a little bit delayed but nothing to be worry about.

  • @gregfl We have similar problem with our baby boy, please share which tests were made and how is baby doll Emma now ?

Tanks a lot for such an informative video.

  • Stay strong and positive
