In this season, had the BCS been in existence like it is today, #2 Arizona State would have played #1 Florida State for the national title as they were the only two undefeated teams. Ohio State would have played another team (perhaps 9-2 Washington) in this Rose Bowl, while #3 Florida (which wound up winning the title) would have played in the Orange Bowl against someone else (prob. 10-1 Va Tech), with not even an outside shot at the national title. Fun to juggle pre-BCS years like that.

Interesting point of view, Arizona State was undefeated and beat a really good Nebraska team that year also. Yeah that Michigan loss in 1996 was the most baffling game/upset that year. Im not a buckeyes fan, but still ponder how did they lose that mother f'n game.

@mblkh2o Well, um, lucky you that USC didn't have to play Ohio State during the 9 years when the the Trojans sucked! At least Ohio St. is consistently good.

@SFFOOL76 Naaa. I don't think so. Even as a Buckeye fan, I would have a hard time declaring them champions after losing to Michigan! At least Florida got a rematch with FSU.
