The United States and Pakistan are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Fulbright academic exchange program and the growth of U.S. -- Pakistan educational cooperation. This report is based mostly on an interview with Alina L.Romanowski-Deputy Assistant Secretary of state for Academic Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the State Department on the history and objectives of US educational exchange programs for Pakistan. How these objectives have increased over the years as part of a growing relationship between Pakistan and United States, how the 2400 Pakistani students and professionals who came to United States over last 60 years under the Fulbright and other student exchange programs have contributed to the Pakistani education system and society after returning to their country. Polanski says that much of the political and professional leadership of Pakistan and 9 vice chancellors of Pakistani Universities have been Fulbright students in US Universities. She says that an always increasing demand for US scholarships in Pakistan shows the immense respect for US educational programs in Pakistan and is not by any means an attempt to steal the minds of sixty million Pakistani youth
