This is some gameplay footage of the PS3 version of Mirror's Edge. I already put some footage of the 360 version up.

What can i say, my 360 is still in Phoenix, and I am not, so it's either drive 4 hours to get the 360, and Mirror's Edge, or just re-buy it for the PS3. I chose the latter. I was craving to play this game, and if you know my feelings about most of the games this gen, you'd know it's extremely rare for me to crave much from this gen.

When I first got the game on the 360, I played through it three times, first on medium, second on hard, and third on easy. Again, it's really rare for a game to hold me for that long. I barely like playing most of the games in this gen the first time through, let alone two more times back to back.

ME opens the door for real innovation in the FPS genre. I does have it's flaws, but I can overlook them when I enjoy the rest of the game as much as I do. Sometimes the play mechanics don't work quite right. I blame this on having the game decide what you're doing instead of giving the player more control (which would complicate the controls a little more, but would get rid of some of the problems). For example, sometimes, you try to wall run, only to have Faith, jump straight off the building, other times, when you're trying to jump from pipe to pipe, sometimes she'll jump straight off the pipe instead of jumping towards the other pipe. Just small, but sometimes frustrating stuff like that.

I also wish the game was just a little less linear. I realize they are trying to tell a story, however, I wish they would have opened the level up just a little more giving you multiple paths to discover. The gameplay mechanics in this game demand a more open world. I'm not saying Open world on an Oblivion, or Assassin's Creed Scale, I'm just saying let gamers play around in the world a little bit more. Or as I say with oldschool design, give us a level, and then get the hell out of our way, and let up play it, and discover it our way.

  • i LOVE this game bro, its one of my ps3 faves......how long till that metal x video?

  • @ROY0666 It'll be a while, but I promise I'll get it up.

  • Shitty quality , but it's awesome.

  • @reggiardito The PS3 version seems to have a lot more screen tearing than the 360 version. Compare it to the vid I have of the 360 version.

  • No i dont like FPS on the console, the only one i consider playing is Killzone.

I only like to play with humans and with a mouse online on the computer (i play strategy games too).

On the console i like adventure/action, mostly 3rd person, or RPG.

By the way, if the punishment be playing Metal Gear Solid for the PS1 it would be like heaven, i could stand playing Final Fantasy (6, 7, 8, 10, 12)

But PLEASE! NOT COD! Its just the same since the 90's.

  • @Konicava It twill be CoD. Anyway, I can play console or PC. Mouse may be more accurate, but I see no point in losing out on some of the good Console FPS games because you don't like the controller. When in Rome, do as the Romans do (no, I'm not talking about robbing, raping, pillaging, and trying to conquer the world, and submit them to your rule), I'm saying when I'm on the PC, I have no problem using the mouse, and when on console, I have no problem using the controller.

  • @Konicava How can you hate Timesplitters? I'm revoking you're gamer card, go sit the bench. Your punishment will be an eternity of playing Call of Duty, and all it's millions of bland sequels. An eternity of playing the exact same game except the cliche scenarios are switched around so you think it's new. This time, we'll do the rail shooter scene first, followed up by the scene where you get blown out of a vehicle, and fade in and out of consciousness, followed by a "Hey You" fetch quest...

  • I love Mirror's Edge! It's so underrated. Great that you put up the vid :)

  • Odd thing about the PS3 version is that if you run it at 480p it uncaps the frame rate. It will run smoother than the 360 version, but tears like a mofo. No tearing at 720p though.

  • really underrated game

  • This is one of the best games I've ever played. The aesthetics and gameplay mechanics were terrific.

  • @teh2Dgamer me neither, just prefer the mouse for FPS...

  • @teh2Dgamer but its awesome aint it? plays like tony hawk, but MXers.....i like how STUPID high you can jump in it, its sweet

  • One of the most underrated games of this generation, that's for sure.
