diGIT magazine - September 2010 Editorial

Ayubowan, welcome to the September issue in the second volume of the online IT magazine diGIT.

The month of September has dawned and I am sure you are all looking forward to the international book exhibition that will take place at BMICH from the 18th of this month. There is sure to be a great number of titles available at a bargain.

SLASSCOM organized a major event focusing on quality as a differentiator on the 18th of August. Quality Summit 2010 was attended by a large gathering of over 250 quality practitioners from over 80 IT/BPO companies. It heartening such events being organized and lets look forward to many more IT events in Sri Lanka.

26th of August was a day that many twitter users of Sri Lanka cherished. It was the day when the first ever Tweetup happened. With the participation of over 80 twitter users in close proximity to Colombo and a few more coming from afar it was an entertaining time meeting up in real life. Do check the article and the exclusive video that diGIT was able to cover during the event.
We have a few more '10 minute' episodes as well. Currently you can see an interview with the CEO of MIT Tony Weerasinghe. We have a few more lined up including an interview with CEO of Ridgecrest Sanath Fernando and Sanjaya Karunasena who is the CTO of ICTA. Hope you are checking for updates as we release them.

2600 is a magazine started in 1984 by Eric Corley, more commonly known by 'Emmanuel Goldstein' the fictional character from the book 1984 by George Orwell. Recently two books were published by Wiley and we have an interesting review of the 2nd title 'Dear hackers'. Check the review by Chanuke Senevirathne and see if you have an interest in hacking and what hacking is really all about.
