@windstorm1000 That isn't QUITE how it happened. They formed an alliance with the Wampanoag tribe to mutual benefit. But it is PC to blame everything on that one group of settlers for what strangers came along and did later.
@StSimonMartyr You have one of the few true comments regarding this era. That is exactly the way it happened and the majority of Americans are clueless. And John mason the leader of this murder has a fine monument over his body in conn. What's wrong with that? And, yes, our 'Thanksgiving' is partially based on these repetitive 'thanksgivings' to 'God (leave God out of it, please) for massacreing tribes and getting fat and rich off the land!!
@SuperStarsNStripes ....and then, the puritans proceeded to terrorize the native population. nothing to be proud of. they should have stayed in England and everyone would have been better off!!
they came here for religious freedom--then proceeded to pursecute natives for their faith. what's so proud about that??/ I wish they'd stayed in England. The commonwealth of Mass. owes their native people apologies and free state land for those terrible times!!!
@KisameKat The pilgrims lived in England, originally, and fled to Holland, where the Dutch helped them. The Dutch also later helped America in its Revolutionary war of independence from Britain by the way. We have them to thank for a lot of things. The original pilgrims were jailed for being against the official church of England, the Anglican church, the king was angry with them.
700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe had gathered for their annual Green Corn Festival.
In predawn hours, the sleeping Indians were surrounded by English and Dutch mercenaries who Shot and Clubbed them to death while the terrified women and children inside the longhouse were Burned alive. The next day the governor of the MA Bay Colony declared "A Day Of Thanksgiving" as 700 unarmed men, women and children had been Murdered.

You are here because:
You're religious and you are looking at this video to see and learn about your religious ancestors.
Or you're here because:
You was bored, try to be creative when you wrote something in the search bar and wrote "pilgrims".
