Well, he was from Foxrock, which is just about a mile from Dun Laoghaire. I suppose I;m not as surprised about that as about the fact that, even after living in Paris for almost fifty years, his accent hadn't faded.

In my experience, living in a foreign country does nothing to one's native accent, because the English Beckett would have heard most when he spoke it I'm guessing would have been family and friends back in Ireland.

This is the first time I've seen Beckett on film! Like others, I had done searches in the past and thought that no footage existed.
