James Kalm brings viewers along for a leisurely tour of some of New York's most prestigious Upper East Side galleries. Beginning with a stop at Zwirner and Wirth to peek at the uniquely American eccentric sculptures of H.C. Westermann, we then visit an exhibition by one of the painting community's most revered senior artists, Michael Goldberg at Knoedler. We cap off this run with a brief glance at A.R. Penck's "Paintings from the Sixties" at the ever popular Michael Werner Gallery.

  • Are you dogging Westermann? I only ask because I've had a lot of experience with fine woodworking and I've seen Westermann's pieces in person, I think his work is beautifully crafted and really smart. Just curious.

  • The Little Egypt piece is a reference to Southern Illinois. Great video, I love H.C. Westermann. You just don't see that kind of craftsmanship in the contemporary art world these days.

  • Michael Goldberg: Is the hardening of art due to how fat we have become. What happened to his lyrical side of the 90's? Where did that movement go?
