Architect and UCSD Visual Arts Professor Teddy Cruz examines the bicultural territory formed by San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico. [6/2006] [Public Affairs] [Show ID: 11739]
Not sure about sexy but he's very articulate and highly intelligent. I heard him on public radio today and googled him.
I don't fault his contradictions. It's sort of impossible to practice what you preach in an global system that's so good at co-opting radicalism and turning it into commodities for profit.
Because he is an achitect and a thinker, and a Lecturer on Power, he would have to find himself unavailable to popose in order to fit his own system. This system, the so called. "tactics of encroachment" are occupational and necessity hazards, of which he, from his lecture theatre, does not participate in. Nevertheless I admire his posture and his unwavering curiosity and very well placed discourse, but i fear it may stop there. Regards
I may warm up a little bit to what rajnucz has mentioned. The Master Lecturer is none other then a wannabe architect, who pretends to propose. However his tactics will always be double folded. His praxis on the one hand must never leave observation, because his prgramme of policy is the letting go of top down perspective, of which he would become part of by offering anything physical to the city.
Ojala que no le hechen agua!!! This is what happens when you grow up silenced in Guatemala...you metamorph into a Master Lecturer...Beyond the symbolism of "activism" A hybrid between Genius and community leader...what would happen if he would get a chance to review his research from M.L.K's mountaintop... Government intervention again?
Great perspective on urban space in regards to transnational migration and transnational architecture. It's amazing how different yet similar we really are. Thank you for posting this UCTV
