A successful replication of the perpetual motion magnetic pendulum of George Delk, .... even though in the style of Tinselkoala.

  • Anybody wishing to make the "Lazy Susan" that I describe below, from 'flexible magnetic sheet' . First look at the cog wheel of a clock escapement, then cut acute triangles (allowing the magnetic N-S-N-S stripes to form 'concentic' circles. Have the 'rotor' cog incline in one direction with a tripple-prime number of teeth, and use a different tripple-prime stator, inclined counter to the rotor. A needle at the center. The slightest angular momentum prevents the wheel from attaining stability.

  • @WarzSchoolchild I don't see any Lazy Susan at your account, just thé chaos pendulum drums, but interesting yes.

  • @anandaadhar ~ I bought a video camera, inserted the CD and it disabled by Sony Laptop's software! I can't even play DVDs! My mistake for not buying a SONY/Microsoft compatible camera! I used a circular glass platter on a hardwood circular base. The 'rest=point' is in 'unstable equilibrium' so eveb a slight nudge will get it going. but not run for more than a few minutes. I suspect the PM (ART?) machine uses ferrite 'chart' magnets, N & S on one face. The push rods may be critical to operation?

  • @WarzSchoolchild The Delk design is flawed, a magnetic rotor is needed as also a centrifugal intertial oscillator. The complete is more than sum of parts. Thus define the operation of universal time.

  • @anandaadhar ~ Have you seen Professor Walter Lewin's lecture "The Complete Breakdown of Intuition" ? When he gave the lecture there were professors of electical engineering from MIT etc. After the demonstration they accused Walter Lewin of cheating! ...Walter is an HONEST man!...This is why The Royal Society Motto is "On The Word Of No Man" ( watch?v=1bUWcy8HwpM ) this is Part 2.. Theory is fine, but only 'experiment' can validate it. (We now know that the speed of light is no longer absolute!)

  • @WarzSchoolchild Yes experiment is decisive, theory is just SF in this department until something is confirmed by replicable experiment. The best way to humble the arrogant mind and ego. You can see this all around. especially phsycists should realize how much they do not know.

  • @Anand ~ Re:-George Delk contration, artistic deception IS!?! a possibility, in UK tradition "Innocent till proved guilty" is the foundation stone of our Justice System.... One face N-S chart magnets and push-pull rods might allow the pendulum to be sequentially 'attracted' (S to N) then repelled (N-S to N-S) allowing the pendulum to receive a 'pull-push' force by the dropping chart-magnet. likewise at the top, a 'pull' is overcome by 'pendulum-leverage'??? of the 'drop-magnet's initial 'pull'?
