Original is longer than 10 mins. Excerpted is the last 10 mins.

My suspicions were proven: YT's hotspot insight shows audience attention shoots up around 6:50 and lasts to the end. The part I always fast forward to.

  • One of my favorite songs from Steve Roach. Words cannot describe its beauty. Thanks for posting!

  • a favorite too. Sounds paradoxically like being in outer space and in the ocean's depth at the same time.

  • This is fantastic. I used to listen and tape his music about 15 years ago on a Philly program called, "Star's End." I used to have to stay up from 1-5am just to hear it. Imagine trying to stay awake at 1am to THIS!

  • Steve Roach had a near death experience, as he headed towards the light

he heard the most amazing music he had ever heard in his life..

This very song is the closest replication of that music,

don't believe me? Look up NDE's go to the first page,

look for the "music" link and it will tell you the story.

  • @upuautiii

    I agree, but why paradoxically?

  • @upuautiii its supposed to sound like music people experience from near death experiences. after a bike crash steve roach heard "the most intensely beautiful music you could ever imagine" and decided "to dedicate my life to re-creating the exact same sound." this album is his attempt to do that, recreate the music he heard from his experience. essentially, this is the music of death and i cant wait to die to experience whatever comes next

Same here. just can't get most rap and country music. I can respect some of the guitar styles in country music, the finger picking stuff is brilliant if you're watching the right guy playing it.

I do love East Bound & Down by Jerry Reed though...due to the Smokey & The Bandit film obviously ;)

  • @fistpounder - yeah...great artists! ...i like being eclectic in my tastes - metal and electronic are my 2 fav styles in general though...(I hate rap and country though)

  • this is an impressive piece of music, not just another piece.

  • i would meditate to this tune ... lay back in my car seat during lunch, put on a cassette, close my eyes and slip into another world and return refreshed. started listening to structures from silence back in 1983

  • @dwellceller

I'm the same as you. Power metal, thrash, heavy metal, industrial, folk metal lol loads but I also love the music at the other side of the spectrum, that, to me at least, being ambient music.

Steve Roach, Biosphere, Brian Eno, Pete Namlook etc...all excellent stuff :)

  • @Bierreisender Yep, listening to Ambient you better bring a pillow
