  • I am a linux user. where was your proof that OOo is better than MS Office? Other than just saying that MS are a bunch of jerk offs, which I agree with you, you're not providing any proof that they are. you made a weak video.

  • @trapspringer01

And you made a Weak Comment. Where did I ever mention that OpenOffice is "Better" than Microsoft Office? I didn't say anything of the Sort.

  • The comment from the teacher is just disgusting. I can't believe that a teacher could say such shit and, what is worst, giving the idea that she only teach how to use a private office tool to their students. I'm Sorry, but how can be possible that in a PUBLIC SCHOOL students are learning to use a propietary software? How can be accepted that a corporation use the public education for her bussiness? (anti-trust, where are you?)

Solve this point and will solve about 50% of the other OO "problems"

  • But let them do it, I do not care. Let them spent all their money on ads instead of development, doesn't affect me. No, what I care about is the MS-tax I have to pay everytime I buy a new computer. It's like the money should not go to MS, but to the creators of the Linux OS I use instead. I just want that tax removed, and then MS can do what they want.

  • What an asshole teacher. Formatting errors between OpenOffice and Word are pretty obvious. It's hard to accidentaly make your MLA citation triple spaced and panning an entire page.

  • There is some truth to that FUD ad. I do find that there are format problems with Excel (especially with formulas) and Word. I haven't done much with Power Point yet (but I will have to soon).

I use Open Office as my primary office software but my advice to people (especially college students) is that you should save money by buying an older version of Office (like 2003 or 2007) or see if your school offers a discount.

For accounting majors you NEED Access.

  • This video exemplifies well what FUD is :)

  • well why do you think MS made docx and other 'x formats? just to make openoffice incompatible. familiarity- what about we take someone who used only OO and make them use MS office - will take same time to adjust like to OO from MS office. standardization and compatibility ?! WHAT?! MS changes their OWN standards JUST TO MAKE STUFF THAT OTHERS WOULD BE INCOMPATIBLE WITH THEM! said that - I use MS Office 2007... because I am forced, but don't worry - TPB 4 EVA

  • I agree! I hate Open Office and would rather use Microsoft Office on Windows and AbiWord, Gnumeric, and Homebank on Linux!

  • Haha Microsoft rage xD! This sum aprils fools leak or summat? They cant be serious can they? Decreasing to such a childish state just to boost their sales??? PATHETIC is all I can think of.

  • Yeah yeah.. Frustration it is actually what I experienced while using microsoft software. Especially Office and Windows. Problems with maintaining this programs... I thought people would be smart enough to press a button where it says "automatically check for updates". Then the capability problem is actually caused by microsoft! It is typical microsoft style: tell junk without proving it. It was the same story with windows 7 and linux. They tell this stuff every time they launch something!
