Bill Robinson's tenure as Whitworth's 17th president, from 1993 to 2010, is the second longest and one of the most influential in the university's history. Like no president before him, Robinson has understood and articulated the "Grand Paradox" of Whitworth's mission to uphold Christian conviction and intellectual curiosity as complementary rather than competing values. Bonnie Robinson has been a vital and welcoming point of contact for the university while also using her gifts as a concert pianist and organist to serve the Whitworth music program, the church and the Spokane community. Inspired by the Robinsons' leadership and service, Whitworth students, faculty and staff joined with alumni, donors and friends to achieve record levels of freshman applications, enrollment and retention; $83 million in campus improvements; and a $75 million increase in the university's endowment. "With Grace and Truth" highlights some of Bill Robinson's most important contributions to Whitworth proclaiming the mission, shaping the culture, engaging the community, sustaining excellence and building a foundation that point to the university's greatest days to come.
