  • BICHES !

  • @2dncingfeet There is a not very good recording of the whole ballet with the Ballet de Nancy from the eighties... At least you can see the choreographic text, but it is not very well danced and there are -again- many details missing...

  • I learnt this dance !!!! :)

  • I would love to know if you have any more of the parts of Les Biches. I'm actually writing a research paper on this dance and I'm having trouble finding any form of video to further my writing. This is the only legitimate video I have been able to find.

  • It is true there is no original footage, but the Royal Ballet's revival in the sixties is the reference to go by. Have a look at the photographs of Beriosova and you can get the idea of what Colja1 is talking about. Not even Bussell managed to get that feeling... I think in dance we sometimes forget to ask those who did see these productions when they were well danced...

  • @Colja1 There is no original footage of this piece as Diaghilev would only allow very little filming within his Ballet Russes, so how are you in a position to comment on the quality of the revival of this piece as the choreogrpahers only had pictures to go on? Also im guessing, although i could be wrong, you wern't actually there so you're criticism isn't really valid...

  • is not the court ballet,

is "belle epoque- find it funny and graceful , unconcerned with "tecnique.. more fresh

  • It misses by a hundred years what the style is supposed to be.

A hundred years. This is National Enquirer to the real Vogue.

Better not to try to revive these works if this is what they look like now. For starters, the music is about half the speed it should be, there's no economy of movement, no sophistication, and no style whatsoever. I'm sorry if I offend, but where Nijinska is concerned, no compromise whatsoever.

  • who filmed this and cut the feet? the dancing seems nice, but I cannot fully appreciate the technique.

  • i performed this with Oakland ballet Co. as a grey girl :)

do you have any more clips from this production?
