Strawberry Fields
This project was inspired by the movie Across the Universe. Jude (Jim Sturgess) was frustrated, jealous that his girlfriend Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood) was spending more time on the Anti-Vietnam Movement than him. Unconsciously upset about the war himself, the war that sent his best friend Maxwell (Joe Anderson) to duty, Jude closes himself off in his studio and instead of sketching fruits to create logo for a logo company, he pinned these strawberries to a canvas. Slowly, each strawberry bleeds as the scene flashes between him and Maxwell. Bombs of strawberries were dropping, its juices splattered across the screen. Each strawberry represents soldiers that shed blood for an unnecessary war, caused by the fear of expansion in communism across South Vietnam. This is Strawberry Fields, simply a killing field, a graveyard, of these young drafted veterans.
