Red and Chris Henry, John Hedgecoth, and Barbara Johnson play Red's dynamic mandolin tune "Helton Creek" at White Springs, Florida, May, 2006. (Recorded by Bob Raisler. Thank you, Bob!)
Red started playing mandolin in 1967, and likes to write original numbers like "Helton Creek." Red's son Christopher plays a hot guitar break here. Red's uncle John Hedgecoth played banjo for Bill Monroe in the 1970's and always knows the right thing to play on a good bluegrass number, and bassist Barbara Johnson adds an energetic, solid bass line to the mix. The crowd liked it!

Great tune and great picking Red. I hope we get to pick that one at Helton Creek this year. I'll have to woodshed on that one until May.
