AREM - Underwater 3D Mapping

3D Mapping of a coral reef formation using Direct Structure from Motion. Data acquired using a hand-held camera (courtesy of University of Miami).
The 2D map is obtained using ortho-mosaicing techniques. The mosaic is used to render the 3D model, resulting in a fully texture-mapped 3D representation of the area.
