why are americans so against people having medical care... like every other developed country in the world.. in the UK, theyve required mandatory health insurance since 1911.. they also spend 1/2 the amount per capita on health care

The fine is $95 a year, or 1% of income, whichever is greater. Fairly hefty.

However, If you earn under $14,000 a year, or have 2 dependant children, medicaid expansions will cover you. This is expected to cover over 17 million Americans.

Insurance exchanges opening in 2014 will offer subsidised insurance if you earn under $88,000. Although I oppose the mandate, the law has many other provisions that ballance it out, at least for most Americans.
