Great video, illustrated and detailed. I struggled with changing an old switch socket combo that had burned out to a new one until I found your video. I had it done in ten minutes flat after seeing your explanation. Thanks!

Mark, thanks for the excellent video. Would wiring be identical if wiring to a single pole switch (to light) and then to a GFI outlet?

@HomeAdditionPlus Mark, to the light you are connecting two wires, one is BLACK and the other a White wire with black tape on it. I understand that a white wire marked with black signifies that that wire is Hot but this looks like you are connecting two hots...shouldn't the white wire in the light be left white showing its a neutral return??

I want to thank you for this video. It has to be the best easy to use video I have ever seen. It has saved me tremendous time money and sanity. thank you for making the complex so easy and attainable.

can anyone film wiring a combination switch that operates two separate lights. Like an indoor light and outdoor like.
Why did you put black tape on the white wire running from the light fixture to the pigtail at the switch?? Isnt it just a neutral wire ??

@cessna65423 Because that wire was being used as a HOT wire vs as a neutral/return

Mark- thanks for the video. I am having an issue, I have 2-wires coming from the light switch black and white. I understand the pigtail of the HOT wires to feed the upper left (brass) and lower right screws. But now I have the white wire which is confusing me. I connected to the top right screw and light came on, but no outlet power. Next I attached the white to the lower left (silver) screw and nothing from the switch or the outlet. I did break the tab off for constant power to outlet. TY!

@creed777 Its hard to answer your question with limited information and not seeing it. If two wires are coming from the light switch, power is probably coming in on the black and feeding the top of the switch. When you close the switch power goes out over the white wire to the fixture or outlet. Often the white wire when used this way has black tape on it since it is being used as the hot. I can't really say more without having more info.
