what are alpha particles?

@KimoCollins An alpha particle is a bundle of particles made of two protons and two neutrons. It is the same thing as a helium nucleus.

@naruto2710 Gold can be hammered into a very VERY thin sheet. I believe this is the reason it was suited for this experiment.
