a friend of mine has had the normal n95, the black n95 and the n96. he said the n96 was way louder than the n95s.

no it's not..the n96 and 5800 have the same speakers and they are louder than my n95 *gb NAM

I have a N95 and the sound is very loud and good, but I want to buy the N96.

The music player on the N96 is crapness of epic proportions.... the phone itself is pretty sweet but i hate this music player with an unrivaled passion, i bought this phone for the camera and space (for playing music) and i've had a huge amount of trouble with it. Mine wont even recognise MP3 files anymore and apparently most peoples N96's are doing this now. I've had to convert 15gb of music that i like to WMA just to get my phone to recognise it. If it's mainly for music buy a SE.

Is sound quality in headphones good? Does it sounds like n91? or n95?

Hi we will let you know - now that we have the full version - to be honest if your own headphones are of a good quality you should be fine.

Could someone please tell me what video format this phone supports? Also I know in the UK it comes boxed with some leads that look like they have a/v connections so does this mean I can hook this up to my TV?

Here are the supported video formats....
3GPP formats (H.263),Flash Video, H.264/AVC,
MPEG-4, RealVideo 7,8,9,10
Yes you can hook the N96 to a TV with the supplied TV-out cable.
