  • LWJ was great,it's a shame that He's underated among other Classic Soul greats such as Brown,Cooke,Wilson,Redding,Gaye & list goes on,I need to add some LWJ CD's into my collection.

  • You are so right. His "Fever" is the only version.

  • lfmao!!!!!!!!!! yeah man best mother-f*c*in line by the most hardcore gangster rapper ever +10

  • @aimvet YES! Peggy Lee stripped all the soul from it. Her version is so hollow.

  • @monkeytown1000 I don't know. But I love when two different artists do a song and interpret them in such different ways. It's a two for one. I enjoy them both. But Little Milton moves me.

  • @BluesInMySoul

Yeah, Little Milton's 'Stax' version is great, but he called it 'Grits Ain't Groceries' not 'All Around the World'. Was this Stax trying to pass it off as a new, original song?

  • PLEASE check out the Little Willie John Biography due out in June 2011 - See Face Book: Fever: Little Willie John's Fast Life and Mysterious Death and the TITAN BOOK web site

  • all around the world id rather be a fly a light on my baby stay with her til i die with a toothpick in my hand i dig a ten foot ditch and run throug the jungle fighting lions with a switch..

  • I don't know if Hendrix improved the song but he sure changed it and added fantastic guitar to it. He influenced future artists by showing them songs can be played in many ways and styles. It can be a wonderful thing.

  • nobody does it better than the original, its easier when you already have a recording

  • James Brown opened for LWJ. Willie was the star and James always admired him.

  • sapphiretaurus:

Excellent point about how a cover can eclipse the orignal version of a song. But sometimes that's not a bad thing, I think. Bessie Smith first hits were covers of Alberta Hunter & other rivals-and Smith did them better. Also, has anyone here ever heard someone claim that Hendrix didn't improve "All Along the Watchtower"?

    A. Franklin's "Respect" is an O. Redding cover, Earth Wind & Fire covered McCartney's "Got to Get You Into My Life" and it COOKED.Opinions, anyone?
