Hey all, the original melody is from the folk tune "Dives and Lazarus" which is both a English or Scottish child ballad and Christmas carol. The tune has since been used in "Star of the County Down," "Gilderoy," "The Unquiet Grave," "The Murder of Maria Martin," "The Thresher," "The Fighting 69th" and the Mormon hymn "If You Could Hie to Kolob."

To all those who are talking about the Star of the County Down, I think Loreena just liked the melody for these lyrics and she has Star of the County Down in her newest album, "The Wind that Shakes the Barley"

As always, great

preferisco la storia delle bella castana scalza incontrata in una mattina di Luglio ^^
La voce però è stupenda. E anche il violino.

Yeah I thought so. This is the melody of "Star of the County Down". It's just a bit slower.
