LOL - that's almost exactly the way I remember swing. I may have mentioned Jack Nicholson's final moments in "The Shining" - morph that into the commercial and you have a pretty good idea of my final moments of the ritual...
The ending of the tag line "Swing, American!" just makes me think they were alluding to the swinging, wife swap culture of the late 1960's and early 1970's.
