...Scenes from the 49th annual running of the 12 Hours of Sebring. Tragically, Bob Wollek, an extraordinary race car driver, is killed while riding his bicycle near the track at the 12 Hours of Sebring. This video is dedicated to Bob Wollek. The track footage is all shot from the outside of Turn One. By midday we needed a break from the relentless sun, and that's when Bo, Greer, Dave, Martin and myself hiked through the legendary Green Park at the 12 Hours of Sebring and sat out on the front lawn of the Chateau Elan (hotel and spa) outside of the hairpin turn and had a few pops. After hanging outside for awhile we went inside to cool off in the AC and had a chance to schmoose with Don Panoz. For those who may not know Don Panoz, he is the father of the ALMS Petit LeMans Racing Series and also claims among his numerous holdings, 12 Hours of Sebring and Road Atlanta. For more on Don Panoz check here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Panoz . We are always camped trackside at Turn 11 (Collier Curve) while we are at the 12 Hours of Sebring and are home of the La Bomba race car float. I think it is safe to say that La Bomba is now legendary at the 12 Hours of Sebring. Thanks for watching this video of the 2001 12 Hours of Sebring - dedicated to and in memory of Bob Wollek. • RIP Bob and Michele.

  • Bob Wollek was and always will be one of the greatest sports car racers in the world. He ran 30 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple ALMS and IMSA seasons, and had an overall amazing career. A shame he had to die, RIP Bob Wollek, gone but never forgotten.

  • Damm I wish he had won just 1 Le Mans 24 hour race, great driver like Tiff Needell as well another tryer with bad luck, other than Vern Shuppan I think Bob should have 3 Le Mans to his name

  • Can you find a way to upload it

  • 3:17 yeah! Heineken!
