  • Haha :P

well we're not all that violent :)

And Italian sounds pretty good too =]

  • whew! I thought coming my way was the Dutch clog hitting on the French cheese ;-) :)

Actually I think of the Indo-European languages I've heard, Brazilian Portuguese sounds the best. :) Dutch is pretty good too!

  • You're welcome =)

I agree, Dutch sounds pretty good :)

Too bad its pronunciation is rather difficult for some people and it's quite hard to learn if you're not a native speaker :(

Well, I think French sounds better indeed, it's a lot smoother =]

  • Thank YOU! :) Very helpful. I think the Brits have a closer pronunciation than the Americans then. I like Dutch language. Of the Germanic languages, it sounds the best.

    Of course...French is better ;-) ;-)

*runs away from the impending furious Dutch clogs*

  • Hey, I'm Dutch :D

I'll try to help you pronounce it:

The 'v' is pronounced like the 'v' in the English 'van' and the 'a' of 'Van Gogh' is pronounced like the 'a' in 'are'

The 'g' is what we call a 'hard g' and is pronounced using your throat (guttural)

The 'o' is pronounced like the 'o' in the English 'or' and 'gh' is pronounced as 'g'

  • fermmeer, fermeer,,, fuck off ,vermin !

  • Wow!! you are Great! You should post more videos on how to pronounce things on youtube!!!!

  • fUCK YOP!

  • The Dutch pronounce the painters name like "van hoh", only the "h" is very... guttural. The "v" is somewhat like "f", too.

Sorry I can't approximate it better, I hope it was helpful. Also, I'm sure there's some video on youtube about it.

  • What is the Dutch pronunciation for "Van Gogh"?

In the U.S., I hear them pronounce it as "Van Go". In the U.K, they say, "Van Gok".

What is the proper Dutch pronunciation?
