@Edohiguma My answer doesn't "depend" at all. I have lived in Japan. Some Japanese people "do" speak like that and they do think its cute. Just not very many.

@runeblade48 That really depends on so many things. My niece, for example, doesn't go into the whole cute thing at all. Don't think she ever will.

Japanese youth language in general has many linguists wondering. A colleague of mine (our resident linguist for Japanese) has started to compare it to some yakuza "dialects". I don't know that much about it, it's not my area. I stick to pre-modern Japanese and woodprints.

@alxsoad Not 100% true. Most Japanese don't speak like that. i have known Japanese girls to speak like anime girls because they think its cute. It may start off that way but declines into being annoying. The level of the decline is based on how attractive they are. One of the girls I knew that spoke that way was not very attractive so it got annoying really fast.
