Instablogs had been tracking the web throughout the week and wondering which story would be the most talked this week as major events unfolded like racial attack against Indian students in Australia. However, it was Microsoft that surprised the web towards the end of the week by announcing the launch of its new search engine Bing.
Unveiled to a small audience of journalists at its London headquarters, Microsoft's newest search engine comes packed with search tools such as an Explorer Pane for refining searches, Quick Previews for sneaking a peek at a site before visiting it, and Sentiment Extraction for making sense of product reviews. Bing has been tipped as a Decision Engine that will allow users to target their searches more accurately, offering a list of topics of related interest — something Google doesnt do.
As the two biggest technology giants Microsoft and Google prepare to slug it out in the battle of $20billion web search supremacy, Instablogs gives an insight into the initial web reviews and comments that have largely been positive.

  • First time I saw bing and not the MSN search engine I though I had adware. I had no idea it was coming. :)

  • LOL I thought it was Adware too. I'm going to block it from my security settings. Hopefully it won't pop up again.
