  • I went solo at RAF Syerston in 1988 in a Slingsby Venture powered glider just before i passed my car driving test. You could spot me with a cheesy grin on my face for weeks after.

  • I think he is still there.

  • Coldplay - Vida La Vida

  • ummm please what is this song ? lol and whoo yh gliding XIX for the win

  • I was the lucky rarity of that fast jet trip :D Hawk T1 at Valley :P. PAys to be part of the Air Training Corps people.

  • Got my gold wings there :P 4 days gliding, first solo on wednesday morning then 5 more on thursday doing AGT XD oh yeh!. First one to do it in my group aswell, another flt sgt did it like after me.

  • I Work for 644 VGS, Based at syerston :). You flew with 643 VGS. But we fly proper planes :D

  • to join air cadets you don't need any kind of medical examination. you just need to declare any ailments you may have eg. athsma, epilepsy. common sense admissions like that.

the only time you need medical examinations, flying wise, is if you get chosen to participate in a gliding or flying scholarship, or if you become a gliding instructor. or, rarely, if you get chosen to have a passenger flight in a fast jet.

There is no obligation to join the RAF if you join the ATC. I'm not.
