  • I just thought I'd let you know, I was so inspired by this that I really spent more time on the clicker training. I have a mare who is very scared of people and she is excelling in clicker training. She knows the basic touch it, she now gets on and off of a platform, and we are learning to put her halter on, as you can't do that either with her. As for my other 3 horses we are still just on the basic touch it and boundry commands.

  • That's great to hear!! You can teach your horse to halter herself. Have her target the nose hole of the halter, eventually pushing her nose through. That was one of the first things I taught Rowan, the unhandled yearling I rescued last year. It really takes a lot of the stress out of the situation.

  • My Miniatures are so smart they could learn this very quickly. Only problem is how do you keep them from attacking you for food. Mine are such cookie hounds. I just love clicker training. Thanks for the opportunity to view these videos

  • Cookie hounds are the best! It means you have a currency they value. However, you need to teach them self-control. "To get the food, you must give up the food." Teach them to stand on a mat for a cookie. Teach them to back away from you for a cookie. Teach them to turn their head away from you for a cookie. Teach them to lower their head to the ground and keep it there for a cookie. Teach those behaviors FIRST, and put them on cue, and then it becomes a lot easier to use food for other things.

  • Very Nice!

  • very nice :) I also started clicker training with my horse, its great and fun, and animals loves it :)

  • I have started two of my horses on clicker training for 4 days now...It is amazing how fast they learn...This is alot of fun for me and for the horses...it is so rewarding also...

  • Wonderful! I loved how you were so excited for him and never doubted him. It's funny how it often takes only about 3 minutes like this for a horse to learn something new, but most people start doubting them and changing their approach at about 2 minutes. You have great timing with your clicker and you can see that it pays off! Thanks for posting.

  • Very nice work! clickertraining makes it easy for the horse and his owner.

  • Wow, that is one smart horse! I'm impressed how fast it figures out what the trainer wants, and experiments to find out what will get the click.

  • That was awesome! Cute horse too. ^^

  • You are just awesome at training your horse! It really was amazing! This is Lynn -- Have a wonderful week!
