One Day Without Shoes April 5, 2011 in Pointe-Claire, Quebec

One Day Without Shoes raises awareness about millions of people (40% of the world) that are barefoot everyday and must walk miles to get clean water, food, or medical help. Being barefoot day after day makes them at risk of injury (cuts and sores on the feet), infections and soil-transmitted diseases that can enter the skin through barefeet. Additionally, children who do not have shoes can't go to school as they are part of the school uniform; ultimately, they can't receive an education, and do not have the opportunity to educate and better themselves nor their community.
