Check out Parallax's Made in the USA page on their website, also, I have quoted here, on this comment feed, what is written on their website if you would just like to read it here (it's an excerpt from the page content on their site).

  • Part 2:

"For Parallax this claim is nearly impossible to make since electronic components come from Asia; however, the FTC's alternative - a "qualified Made in the USA claim" - may be applied to specific Parallax products which have undergone a substantial transformation from their raw material to the finished good."

  • From Parallax's Website:

"The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has offered guidelines for complying with the Made in the USA Standard. Making an unqualified claim of Made in the USA means that the entire product (labor, raw materials, and components) is made in the USA." (Part 2 will be continued in a moment)

  • 1. I am not, nor I suspect are you, the FTC. Also, this is not the forum for FTC to enforce it's rules.

    2. I said you are miserable because instead of finding the good in the video you found some obscure bullshit reason to say it sucks - oh noes, the FTC rules have possible been broken! What will we dooooo???!!

    3. Exactly my point of why you are miserable - pointing out stupid crap just to be a dick.

    Have a nice day!

  • @solanisrs

The FTC most certainly cares about where things are made, especially when those items are advertised as being "Made in the USA" but don't fit the FTC's strict and clear definition of this label.

I must be a miserable person? Because I disagree with you?

And I do enjoy the videos, just as I've enjoyed using Parallax's products for the last 13-14 years. That doesn't mean that I can't or won't point out inaccuracies where I see them.

    Be well.

  • Wow, who really cares where it was made. Methinks you are making mountains out of molehills. You must be a miserable person. I'm really sorry for that. How about enjoying the video and the racks of BS2s? That's the point of the post, not some offhand remark by the narrator.

  • @solanisrs

That's incorrect solanisrs. Nobody at Parallax had anything to do with the design of the IC's on the BS2. They wrote the firmware, but had nothing to do with design of the components.

  • FTC (continued):

What does "all or virtually all" mean?

"All or virtually all" means that all significant parts and processing that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. That is, the product should contain no — or negligible — foreign content.

  • FTC:

For a product to be called Made in USA, or claimed to be of domestic origin without qualifications or limits on the claim, the product must be "all or virtually all" made in the U.S. The term "United States," as referred to in the Enforcement Policy Statement, includes the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories and possessions.

  • @sqtsteve The chip was designed at the headquarters in Rocklin, CA (not sure how much Chip Gracey was involved, but he did all the design of the original Prop). What is your definition of "made"?
