SAN DIEGO, Feb. 18 -- Telephone consultation with stroke experts appears to increase the use of thrombolytic therapy at community hospitals, researchers said here.
Patients presenting to facilities that had a 24-hour hotline to a stroke center were four times more likely to receive tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) than patients at similar hospitals that did not have telemedicine access.
