  • We are not at all 'Anti Metro' but we wonder why people like you are so 'Anti Trees'. When The metro can exist in a way that does not destroy greenery, why not execute it in that way.

  • Law requires the government to conduct statutory public consultations before undertaking any such projects which effects the residents and the public in general- No such public consultaions were held. About the protest coming in late- The information given was that trees would only be pruned, it has only been announced recently that around 400 trees would be chopped.

  • None of the protesters are or claim to be 'Anti Development' or 'Anti Metro' they are only against its execution. Please read the entire thread before you comment. We are also against the destruction of open spaces like Lalbagh and Laxmanrao Park. Without these open spaces, developement means nothing.

  • Very nice Video!

  • Dear Rani,

We are backing it up with legal action as well. What is particularly important is also the fact that the Metro officials did not ask the public before they took this discussion. While saving the parks and trees is one thing we have been pushing for, the other strong point we want to drive across in this campaign is that people need to be consulted before such large projects are undertaken.

  • if any tree in your road is suffocated by the thick concrete laid to your road, please break that hard concrete make provision for water to seep into the ground.

  • we are a group in Pune fighting real hard trying to get them to go underground. the video definitely makes us feel stronger and we will try to save our city too. thank you for posting this

  • i support this, Sweden has successful underground metro train system

  • yes we need metro but its not way of to cutting trees...we can plant again but those plants are there from past more than 60 years old plants who will give those plants...and its not a matter of jealous its matter of to protect global...ppl are cutting one by one tree saying that we will plant it will grow in 5 years but where those plants???? First use the proper travel system, use public transport more and follow the rules of traffic....then there is no need of metro its waste of money........

  • Yes Metro shouldn't be stopped and the way B'lore is in chaos traffic wise, it must continue at full steam or else any delays would lead to more chaos and more dirt pollution in the city.

However, B'lore's identity has been it's pristine greenery and it's the state govt.'s initiative to plant trees elsewhere cos Avinash or Kiran cannot plant trees on Govt. land. That's illegal, if you must know, but they can probably water the tree like you did.

  • The guilt truly lies in the ineptitude of the state govt. that stood by reaping the benefits of tax money coming from the IT boom and allowing reckless expansion without proper planning or simultaneous improvement of infrastructure. It's too late now and something must give for the Metro to come to fruition. Planting trees elsewhere is the solution, but how can you expect these concerned citizens to plant "illegally"on state govt. land? Isn't that the initiative of the state govt. too?

  • i agree with you .. but people should understand reality.. the same people who oppose metro demands for good and better transport .. when govt pushes metro they oppose it .. these people are of totally confused minds

  • we need metro at any cost, people protesting should involve in planting tree which they hardly do,one more thing pratically speaking if metro goes underground we will be destroying the groundwater table which is already depleted in many parts of bangalore, think practically guys, yes it hurts everyone to see trees being cut off but we shall see the positive side and save the green by planting more trees in and around lal bagh and nanda road.

  • I DOn'T FREKIN CARE IF IT'S UNDERGROUND or NOT...

    JUST FINISH THE FREKIN PROJECT...

  • Ur too jealous mr.mrvinoddell.. Ricky Kej has done something great which ur father could not do. When most of bangalore people are proud of him and his contribution, ur silly comment will not make any difference over here..

If u don't know anything bout ricky kej, just stay the fuck away from this.

    Don't be jealous!
