  • It is a way of life for most people. Most cultures have one or more designated time(s) in the year where you give (even more) to those in need. For example, Vietnam has Tết where they celebrate the Vietnamese new year and it is custom to give money to the elderly. They also give money to teachers on teacher's appreciation day. The U.S. has mainly Thanksgiving (canned food drives up the wazzo) and Christmas (the season for giving).

  • Really, people shouldn't need a time of year to set aside for giving and helping one another. That should be a way of life.
