I prefer terminated loops, since you also have a fairly good front to side ratio and the front to back is, if designed properly, is better than 30dB. Although, you need a good low-noise preamp of 25dB for them to work right, the signal to noise is excellent.

Yes For EU you would have to face it broadside towads them for the best, But I hear them fine broadside north to south. 160 mtrs doesn't seem to dirrectional at my qth..
