On June 27, 2011, Rethink Press hosted the Campaign for Al Jazeera English Networking Event at Busboys and Poets in Washington DC, with cosponsors Human Rights Action Center, Institute for Policy Studies, and the Media and Democracy Coalition.
Here in this clip, Sebastian Walker, Al Jazeera English Correspondent, shared with the crowd his experiences and stories from his on-the-ground reporting in Haiti and elsewhere, and how he helped bring community voices to international audiences through his work at Al Jazeera English.
Sebastian Walker was based in Haiti for the last year. He arrived on the ground less than 24 hours after the earthquake hit and stayed on to document the progress of the relief effort, making Al Jazeera English the only international TV network to maintain a permanent presence in Port-au-Prince that year.
Sebastian recently returned from Libya, Bahrain, Qatar and Egypt, where he was making a film on U.S. interests in the region for the Al Jazeera show, Fault Lines.
