  • So i guess to some degree this whole episode made me a little uncomfortable because it felt so exploitative, but then on reflection i think that to some degree that in itself raises an interesting point. We care sufficiently to get all offended by his exploitation but we don't make any effort to help people get off the street etc. at least Russell acknowledges him, talks to him, has a laugh with him. In short treats him like a human being.

  • In his book Russell makes this documentary seem like a sham and a crazy idea but actually I think it made a good point about todays society. Its quite refreshing to know that even when Russell is smacked out of his face on herion he still has a genuine love for people. Lol

  • When i did that good gesture I felt a true happiness... it's weird. New clothes, having a boyfriend, wanting new boots etc suddenly because absolutely pointless...

  • I watched this yesterday night & it really inspired. So today I went out shopping & saw this homeless guy that I've seen many times before. I bought a bacon n egg sandwich & a bottle of ribena & gave it to him. He was genuinely grateful & when i looked in his eyes i saw some sadness although he was smiling. what i hadn't properly realised before is no these people are not sponging off working people or lazy (mum kind of made me think this) they're lost souls alone &ignored ...

  • Well like Russell I was a heroin addict, off it now, when you're a good person, you're a good person on or off. Russell's a good man. :)

  • @firemachima the antithesis of american programming today

  • confrontational, honest, loud, open

  • @dinksta do you mean in this video? cuz this video is from before he started getting clean

  • cause if you read my booky wook when the camera was turned off theyd both use together. and he dropped heroin into is bag, im an ex heroin addict, the only thing useful to James is money food and heroin and what he dropped wasn't money or food. two wraps i think

  • Why does he look so smacked out if he has been clean for 8 years?

  • @theandy391 I think it's more telling that you're uncomfortable at a person gaining themselves from helping someone.

  • @seraphimra Very well said.

  • I'll agree that for some parts Russell didn't handle this extremely sensitively or with a great deal of moral conduct but to expect either of those things from a junkie is a bit silly. The fact that he didn't pretend that James wasn't homeless for a second I actually found a bit endearing just because he wasn't going to act like it was a flaw or that James couldn't cope with it, although sometimes he did go a bit overboard. I love Russell with all my heart and I agree that some bits seemed a bi

  • @060188bd its not james's bag its a rubbish bag, russell is just clearing up :) <3

  • Some of the moments in the episode are strangely profound. Hard to believe Russel taking so many drugs at this point.

  • theres a lot of homeless people where im from in california. i rarely give them any change because 1. im a broke ass college student and 2. i assume they spend it on drugs rather than food... and if our governments can afford wars spending billions a day there is no fucking reason we should have anyone homeless in 2011

  • What does Russell put in James's bag at 2:30??

  • From many of the comments I have read, it seems that this documentary succeeded in getting people to realize they need to treat the homeless with more acknowledgment and take more notice in them. Well done Russell!

  • broken man!!

  • @jammo2006 james is dead now

  • i meant the song at the end of the episode. and its Pinback - Byzantine :)

  • @filthysanchezo the music over the credits is by mogwai, cant recall whats its called i think its on the album young team

  • @jammo2006 its what i'm just thinking i can't help but get the horrible feeling russell said something bad happend in in bookywook

  • I would love to know where james is now.

  • @thismansaid Scottish
