This performance earned 1st place.
Any immature, disrespectful criticisms or comments to ANY team, or schools will be deleted. Know that whichever branch/type/school you are, all JROTC aspects should be respected among cadets.
Instructor Top McNair says at the end:
""Listen up, calm down. Calm. Down. Is that understood? What can we do about it? What else can we do about it? So forget about it. Is that understood?""
-Competition is VERY serious for this school, and with his experience, Top knows throughout his years that sometimes cadets contemplate on what they didn't do right at performance. He then proceeds to calm those still in anxiety after the performance. Simply put, his "pep talk" is similar to the phrase, "there's no use crying over spilled milk".

Routine:
The exhibition routine is the most difficult, physically demanding, practiced part of routines. Usually consisting of elaborate and creative use of rifle drills including, but not limited to, spinning, throwing and catching with the rifle.
Kubasaki Routine:
Calculated to be a total of 300-350 counts of memorization.
Some parts are not counted, but memorized to natural reflex of rifle drill/movement (such as ripple)
1:26 - "Checkered Exhibition Flank"
1:36 - "Death March"
1:55 - "Death March Split"
2:25 - "Drill Ripple"
2:35 - "Exhibition Ripple"
3:00 - " 'Around the world' Ripple"
3:37 - "Scissor Formation"
4:00 - 4:35 "70 Count Samurai March"
4:50 - "Countermarch to split"
5:05 U.S.M.C. J. R. O. T. C. Ku-Ba-Sa-Ki - Drill-Team
5:30 - "Statue (of Liberty)"
Mistakes-
With a good eye, minimal mistakes can be spotted. Most noticeable is a cadets cover falling off. (lol. mine.) This routine has been done perfectly many times, but one stray of the mind can throw off count or create mistakes.
The cover was flown off due to the move "Samurai" in which the cadet spins the rifle over his head with the right arm over the shoulder. (At 4:04)
Interesting Facts:
- Kubasaki routines are never the same every year.
- Exhibition counts are usually 300-450 depending on length.
- Our drill instructor Top McNair NEVER watches the final routine, but instead closes his eyes praying and listening to our sounds.
- Sometimes we practice in the night with lit up tennis courts.
- "Drill Camps" happened where the team stays on campus to sleep over the weekends or sleep at nearby cadet's/friend's houses.
- 2007 team consisted of 9 best chosen members, 6 girls, 3 boys.
- Policies had us to never watch other school's performances before our own, in order to maintain focus and always think about the routine.
- During the trip, we are constantly reminded to simulate the routine in our heads whenever there is free time.
Most skillful yet pointless act of dehumanisation I have ever seen

@direpenguin1
How is it pointless? Its like saying "NBA players training for the all stars is pointless yet skillful."
After going through JROTC it teaches you the fundamentals of being a leader, gaining confidence, and presenting discipline whenever needed. For me that was not pointless.
You spelled "Dehumanization" wrong by the way lol.

They surprisingly have good ventilation in them, that still wont stop a sunny day from toasting you though lol. Its the COVERS that gather up heat and sweat. Total satisfaction when you take them off after a good practice/performance.
