Donizetti's great tragedy is his undisputed masterpiece of melancholic romanticism, with the doomed love between Lucia and Edgardo retold from Sir Walter Scott's novel The Bride of Lammermoor. The 1992 production heightens the story's powerful libretto with its dramatic visual design and first class musical performances.Renato Bruson, Mariella Devia, Vincenzo La Scola, Marco Berti, Carlo Colombara, Floriana Sovilla, Ernesto Gavazzi

Grande Mariella!! La Scola da giovane era molto bravo, ora la voce è completamente distrutta, ma è solo colpa sua!

Do they make a cut at the end of "Regnava nel Silenzio" in this production? I have a recording of Cheryl Studer in this opera, and there's cool material at the end of that aria that a lot of people cut.

I loved this production on dvd and in theatre. Devia's definitive Lucia needs no introductions. La Scola was a fine tenor in his prime.
